Abstract

The article presents a training program for primary students training to become primary teachers, which aims to enable participants to conduct cognitively activating conversations during mathematics lessons. Carrying out this kind of conversation has often been experienced as challenging by students, which is why such a training is regarded as an important part of teacher training programs. The article presents insights into the training concept as well as first results from the testing in an experimental-control group design. In order to assess the quality of conversation sequences planned by the participants as part of a practical trial, a high inference rating was used. There is a moderate training effect at the concept level in the experimental group.
