Abstract

School is a place of sexual socialization and teachers play an important role in sex education for children and adolescents. Sex education should ideally take place across subjects and age groups, but many teachers are not prepared for sex education, neither in the theoretical nor in the practical phase. Nevertheless, most teachers see the importance and meaning for sex education at school, so basic motivation can be assumed. Empirical results on training, knowledge and experience in sex education so far show positive relations with attitudes, readiness and comfort during the teaching of sex education topics.
